Sheila Knight is an experienced commercial real estate and economic development professional. After a successful thirty-year career as a real estate broker, owning both a residential and commercial brokerage firm, she sold her businesses. She then served as the Executive Director of Jacksonville Onslow Economic Development (JOED) for ten years.
She is the founder of SK Strategies LLC, an economic development and commercial real estate consulting firm specializing in product development across North Carolina.
Sheila was appointed in 2014 to serve on the Board of the then newly created Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina (EDPNC), the lead economic development organization in the state, and is serving her fourth term. She serves on the Executive Committee, the Megasite Readiness and SelectSites Readiness committees, and is Chair of the Advocacy Committee.
Her community and civic involvement includes leadership roles in a large NC Chamber of Commerce, a downtown revitalization non-profit organization, and an environmental education organization that repurposed an abandoned waste-water treatment facility. Her expertise was sought to create a Unified Development Ordinance for her community, represent the real estate sector in the Joint (Civilian & Military) Land Use Task Force for Camp Lejeune Marine Corps Base, and Chair the Military Growth Task Force Housing Study for nine counties in eastern NC.
Sheila has held many leadership positions at local, state and national levels of the REALTOR organization to include NC Regional VP, and Chair of the Legislative and Commercial Committees. She continues to be actively engaged and was honored to serve as the founding Chair of the North Carolina REALTORS Economic Development Committee in 2016, and again in 2024.
A native of Maryland and a graduate of Salisbury State (University) receiving a Bachelor of Science in Biology, she also holds the international designation of Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM).
